Gilles Barberis

Gilles Barberis operates at the meeting point of technical precision and underground experimentation. As an audio post-production engineer, lecturer in music computing, and specialist in sound synthesis, his work transforms deep technical knowledge into a bold and physical musical language. 

Influenced by the experimental legacy of the 1990s Berlin electronic scene and the intensity of early European rave culture, Gilles develops intricate sonic architectures shaped by irregular rhythms, granular textures and shifting tempos. His productions avoid conventional dancefloor formulas, favouring detailed sound construction, evolving structures and a constant dialogue between control and disruption.

There is a strong spatial and cinematic quality in his sound design: frequencies emerge, collide and dissolve within constantly shifting architectures. Intellect and instinct coexist, allowing experimentation to remain visceral and dancefloor-conscious.

His releases on labels such as Antinational Noise and AEDI confirm a singular artistic voice positioned on the outer edges of contemporary electronic music—where genre boundaries blur, structure bends, and the unexpected becomes groove.
