Kenji

Italy [Livorno]

Andrea Mori Ubaldini AKA KENJI [Selector] is a DJ and selector from Livorno, drawn to Afro-Latin currents and the quiet magnetism of rhythm.
His name is a quiet reference to Kenji Endō, the protagonist of 20th Century Boys — a character who comes to understand music not as entertainment, but as resistance: something that can slip through the cracks of oppression, awaken memory, and carry fragile truths in times of control and distortion.
Rooted in deep listening and long hours of crate-digging, he approaches sound as an ongoing act of discovery rather than curation — fragments gathered from different times and places, forgotten and reawakened in new forms.
An insatiable listener of distant frequencies, he collects records like driftwood carried by oceans, letting them shape slow, shifting geographies across his sets. Sometimes ritual, sometimes conversation, his selections unfold through intuition rather than structure.
Over the past years, Kenji has brought this approach to DJ sets across different cities and independent spaces, moving between clubs, underground parties, radio sessions, and open-air gatherings. Each performance becomes a temporary ecosystem: shaped by the room, the people, and the unpredictable dialogue between sounds and atmosphere, rather than a fixed narrative.
His work extends beyond the booth into listening sessions and sonic explorations, where music becomes a shared space rather than performance.
His sets move like wind through coastal cities and nocturnal streets — Samba dissolving into Salsa, Cumbia folding into Calypso, rhythms breathing in and out of one another without borders or names.
In his world, music is not a line but a tide: endless, circular, and alive.
