Giulio Stermieri

Giulio Stermieri is a pianist, keyboardist, and composer who moves between experimental electronic music, library music, and free jazz; at the heart of his practice lie improvisation on the piano and organ, and sampling.

From 2012 to date he appears on about thirty records, between jazz and more experimental settings.
He published and performed his compositions with the quartets Foursome, Yabai and the jazz-rock band Aparticle. He played Hammond organ and piano in Francesco Cusa’s Assassins, recording three albums and performing in Italy, Slovenia, France and the Netherlands.
From 2016 to 2019, Giulio Stermieri was voted one of the best Italian jazz keyboardists at the Jazzit Awards.

He collaborates live and in the studio with singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Any Other; he also plays bass in the band Tristitropici, whose first LP Traduzioni has been released in 2026 by Brutture Moderne.

His latest works, Fort Da (2023 Maple Death Records) and Ouroboros (2026 Antinational Noise), have taken him to major national and international sound experimentation festivals (Transmissions, Piedicavallo, EX:IN in Chemniz, Sustain-Delay in Valletta, among others).

He is currently working on Doglianze, a set of compositions for sextet, featuring Beatrice Miniaci on flutes, Beppe Franchellucci on cello, Stefano Grasso on percussion, Luca Dalpozzo on bass, and Federico Negri on drums, which also explores spoken word and field recordings.
