Rise And Shine Sound System

Founded in Bologna in 2004 with the aim of spreading a message of unity, love, and equality through the mystical depth of “Roots Music,” the collective—alongside other local groups—sought to recreate an atmosphere that had long been forgotten.

In 2006, R&S acquired part of the historic “Jah Vibra Sound System,” which was subsequently expanded and upgraded. They began to place increasing emphasis on the Sound System tradition, performing in the classic British style using turntables, sirens, delays, reverbs, dubplates, and more.
Each session becomes a profound musical journey, spanning from the 1970s—the foundations of reggae music—to the current generation of artists and producers, demonstrating how the genre continues to evolve and draw strength from change, decades after its inception.

Over the following years, the collective participated in various festivals and had the honor of hosting and performing alongside numerous artists from the international roots/dub scene, establishing itself as one of the most compelling acts in Italy.
Since 2017, they have been developing their own “sound” in the studio, benefiting from a valuable collaboration with the Bologna-based label “Bassplate Records.” Recently, R&S has also been experimenting with using their Sound System to power various Bass Music events.
